I laughed so hard at this. Maybe because I am in IT and considered one of the more extroverted and sociable in the group, and yet back in the day my wife had to pick me up. Add to that I almost let her get away cause I spent so much time over analyzing what to say I came off a bit awkward (she felt like I was ignoring her)
Luckily I recovered just enough to ask for a date, and she was really forgiving, cause there is no way I think that conversation would have worked 9/10 looking back.
All I can hope is that she doesn't leave me cause I pretty much would resign to the hermit life, haha.
