It's funny, but it seems when hosting the Olympics is actually put to a vote, the people of those countries appear to be completely disinterested in having the Games. I think in the very near future the Olympics will probably fall into a rotation of cities that will host, cities with the established infrastructure to handle an Olympics. But I think Sochi bust the bubble on cities bidding from the Olympics when basically starting from scratch. It's just way too costly, with not enough benefit, as many governments fall deeper into debt.
