He saw the writing on the wall and tried to put his two pals on the backburner, give instructions to the last Parker mafia and then get lynched, with a plan for the "known" town members to get picked off by his last two guys and the last Parker.
It actually could have worked out too, as we've been known to "forget" someone who was a target the previous day as new speculation comes out on the next day.

Personally I first made myself seem a bit out of touch with the game, my hope was that you would all see me as a minor player, that's also why I stayed on Lego for so long and beyond the cops reveal. I was hoping that I would be in plain sight. It was unfortunate that Lego was revealed as town, but I figured he was town but had played weird enough to make him a target and get him out.
To be honest Rathji was the guy that was the true threat in this game.
But I did the calculations, knew I was screwed, and decided to throw the myself out there and have the cool villains death, and be able to openly communicate with the other mob, after trying to do it very quietly when I was hiding.
I was so close in this game twice first in gaining a ton of credibility in this town to drive end game, and with this sacrifice one I had the cop and doctor reveal, However winning still depends on the last mobster staying under the radar, and having the maximum two a night kills and some blunders by the town.
Now
In terms of who would get the death mark
Out of the Darkness and into the light.
I know who the last member is, it is as plain as the random waves of water after I throw Baxter's corpse into the river, and he's been among you above you and leading you all the time.
