I really enjoyed the 'thinking/philosophical finale' more than an attempt at over the top action. That said I've never been a huge Ster Trek buff. Even TNG which I would have watched more than the others wasn't a must watch for me and I didn't see every episode. Not even close. So I could be in the minority.
