Damn... highlight of the thread, quoted for posterity.
I was one who wasn't thrilled with a potential Drasaitl pick, bearing in mind I know very very little about this year's draft crop. Probably some of that is bias against European players.
That said, it's hard not to be impressed by him. His size and his point totals on a crappy PA team are super impressive. I'd also argue that what he did in the IIHF USA-GER game was almost as impressive as Gaudreau (maybe not quite skill-wise but in terms of individual effort and points), given USA is presumably a stronger team than GER. It's hard for me to imagine Bennett or Reinhart doing the same in the circumstances but, again, what the heck do I know?
I'm definitely excited we may get Draisatl, potentially even by default. That said, I hope we get one of the top three forwards. I know we have needs on D, but it would be nice to have stabilize our centre position with elite or potentially elite players, all roughly around the same young age.
