Me too! Kariya was my favourite player growing up and I always wished he would some how end up a Flame. I think the closest it could have came is when Selanne was a free agent after the lockout before he signed back with the Ducks. I remember hearing that Calgary was interested in him and he was interested in coming back to Canada. Not sure how accurate that story is but if that did happen and Selanne found a fit here maybe Paul would have followed? Not really a Sutter player but who knows...
As for Johnny Hockey I have no reason not to think this kid will light it up. He continues to impress at whatever level he plays at. If we protect him and give him open ice he will be just fine. I really hope we get to see him on the PP next year!
Watching him play his first game VS Vancouver all I could think about is how much he looked like Kariya out there. I figured it was the "Kariya Fan" in me trying to make the comparison but after seeing that pass... the kid has the same vision and agility as 94-98 Kariya. I know a lot of people don't want to over hype the kid but I for one love having a player with this potential finally apart of this organization again! It is hard not to get this excited!
