Thus the province's proposal to realign the Trans Canada Highway along Hwys 901 and 22X. When all is said and done, you will likely be entering Calgary in the south at 88 Street and taking the ring road around the south and west if you're going to Banff and BC.
Also, depending on the time of day, even the current alignment can represent a major time savings. To go from McKenzie Towne to Bowness at rush hour is 30 minutes faster around the entire ring road than a more direct route (Deerfoot/52nd to Glenmore to Sarcee) despite being 30km longer.
