You are pretty far off base here. A show of respect after competition is prevalent in pretty much every sport. In mma the guys hug immediately after the end of the fight, showing mutual respect is a good thing in so many ways; it sets a good example for kids, it alleviates residual tension, gains respect from the fans. The fact that you can't understand why they would shake hands is telling, it borders on sociopathy and narcissism.
