Comparing Stevens to that guy is just ridiculous. The way Stevens played was the way the game was played in that era...yes he was viscious and even crossed the line a couple times, but never ever was he anything but doing what the position called for at the time and at a very high level.
You dont last in the NHL for over 1800 games and 21 years and land in the HOF without being very very good at your position...nevermind winning the Conn Smythe.

Never said he wasn't a great defenseman. Matt Cooke is probably one of the better 3rd line role players of the last decade. Doesn't change the fact that they were both head hunters. Stevens was just lucky he played in a time where there seriousness of concussions wasn't taken into account like it is today. The guy ended Lindros's career with a dirty hit much like Cooke ended Savard's career.
