They've lost to the Kings, an excellent team, two years in a row in hard-fought series. The year before, they lost to the Blues, a very good team, though that was a bit of a year off. The year before, they lost to the Canucks, then a very good team, in the conference final. The year before, they lost to the eventual champ Hawks in the conference final, an absurdly good team that they really couldn't be expected to beat. It goes on.
Basically, the only thing the Sharks are guilty of is being in a lot of coin-flip matchups and seeing the coin come up tails more often than heads. This is the NHL, being an excellent team isn't enough to win, because you have to beat at least 2 other excellent teams and a couple others that are at minimum really good.
