They're also not rabid about the Canadiens unless they're winning in the playoffs. Yes, they become more rabid when they're are in the playoffs, welcome to 100% of NHL fanbases. Remember in 2004 when 40k people went to the Red Mile after every regular season and playoff game.....oh wait, that was the playoffs
There are tons of fair weather fans currently cheering for the them. The easiest thing in the world is to cheer for a team when they're winning. Yes, and this happens in every city. The true test of a "bandwagon" fanbase is how their attendance is during down years (see: 100% capacity for years and years in Montreal) and how much the team is in the local spotlight, which they always are in Montreal.
Are you seriously saying that all of the vocal Habs fans are with them year round? I'm not buying that, personally. In that city, a lot are yes. They ampt it up during playoffs, just like any number of cities

I get what you're saying, and when you cherry pick Montreal, some of what you're saying will be true, but it's a red herring, as you apply "Oh the city goes crazy during playoffs, where is that during the regular season" to literally ANY sports franchise in any sport, you're going to get the same phenomenon. That's not a Montreal Canadiens fan thing, that's a sports thing.
