Gone are the days where to win the Norris you had to be the best defenceman and if you scored a bunch of points as well its just because you were so good you spare time on the ice to kick ass all over the place.
I wouldnt put Subban or Karlsson in the same breath as players like Lidstrom, Chara, Niedermeyer or Pronger.

The Norris is still prestigious. A defensemen needs to be able to score and defend. This year's nominations are Chara, Keith and Weber. The player that won the "Art Ross" for dmen is
Erik Karlsson by a LARGE margin.
So maybe the Norris isn't just an 'Art Ross for Defencemen' afterall.
