While, I don't think Porsches are as bullet proof as they were in the 70s/80s, they are still extremely reliable cars. It's actually one of the things I like about them the best...they tend to more over engineered than a lot of their German counterparts. Anecdotally, in my 3 years of ownership, I have yet to have a non-maintenance reason to take it in to the shop.

Although with VW buying them out and them trying to attract a bigger market share by going downmarket, I wonder how much longer that will be the case. The Cayennes are definitely the least reliable of the bunch, and they are the most mass-market.

Oh and my obligatory plea... if you buy a Porsche, please buy a sports car (911, Boxster, Cayman, 928, 944), not an effin crossover made for brand-whores.
