Sold my Ralliart Sportback (here ;D) because we just had our first kid and wanted to get something more family friendly as a second vehicle... But let me ask those who have a family? Do I need to have 2 family ready vehicles? We already have a double cab truck and we are looking at upgrading it to a crew-cab when the 2015 F150's come out. I was thinking I could have a bit of fun with my grocery getter in town.
Test drove several SUVs and also some family sedans but I am honestly leaning towards a 5-door GTI as I've owned 2 Golfs in the past and they were pretty fun while still being somewhat practical.

Deposit in April...delivery in January. It's long. Zero chance at a 2015, so that Jan delivery is a 2016. I'm hanging everything on the hatch being able to hold my hockey bag and/or clubs.
Only reason is the wagons in N.A. suck ass. Only decent one is the Volvo V60. But the Macan, depending on options, is only a "bit" more
