So if "Better" is more cost effective to maintain, then yes, the less "complex" the better.

The *BEST* Jeep I have ever had, based on practicality, is by far the 07 Grand Cherokee CRD. The Mercedes 3.0L Turbo Diesel provides a tonne more torque, so pulls more, and is better off-roading, and gets way better mileage.
But, it is a far more complex drive train, and has caused me the most mechanical issues.
Yeah poor word. By "better" I meant less maintenance issues, and lower cost of ownership.
