At some point, there will be a correction to bring the salaries on the new deals in line with the old. I don't know if Subban will be the one whose contract does that, but it certainly could be.
Phaneuf's new 7 year/$7 million AAV deal kicks in next year. I can't see Subban signing for less than that. I expect him to sign for 8 years, between $8 and $9 million AAV.
