The thing is, there are so many things posted that aren't really spoilers in the sense that they don't give away plot points but they do give away that something is imminent.
That is the thing about this franchise - the big thing that got a lot of people hooked was that the lead, arguably the main character, was killed off before the end of the first book.
I know I went back and re-read it twice just to be sure that he really was dead, and even then I was expecting some sort of switch to have happened.
If I had a hint that something had happened it would have lessened the impact.
And that is why I sympathise with what the TV only watchers are asking - they want to experience that shock, that surprise, that magic too. Only they can't. Even if it isn't explicitly spoiled, someone outside the show letting them know something is (or isn't) going to happen can taint their enjoyment. There are complaints about storylines going slow now - telling them there are 2 more books of character growth and very little plot progression for some characters won't go over well.
I think what they are asking for is pretty much impossible. I understand the desire for it, but for a popular show that is based on a series that was written 5+ years ago and is still popular in its own right, there are minefields of implicit and explicit spoilers everywhere. But all they are asking is that we don't throw grenades at their feet.
And Pho is correct - moderating to try and keep a thread spoiler free is a fools errand. How can you ever know for sure if it is a good guess or a spoiler? Especially when things have become so hyper-sensitive that moderating will be a source of confirmation.
