Great write up on Treliving

Quote:
When former Rampage general manager, Brad Treliving, sat in the AT&T Center pressbox, it was usually a pretty good show.
Treliving was always in a good mood before the game, chatty and engaging. We enjoyed some good conversations about the game in general and about the Central Hockey League, which he helped become a pretty good hockey league as the circuit’s president.
But once the puck dropped, all idle conversation was over. It was time to focus on the game.
We’d still have conversation going, but it was all about the game. No more reminiscing about a certain restaurant in Tulsa. Treliving was in laser-beam mode.
Then, suddenly, when a Rampage player did something really off-the-wall, I would silently begin the countdown. “Three-two-one, we have lift off!” There would be Treliving suddenly studying the lighting and duct-work high above the ice in the AT&T Center ceiling.
On one particularly bad night by the team, I looked over to find an empty seat next to me. Treliving was so upset he moved to the empty section next to the press box. After each knuckleheaded play, Treliving would move over a section. By the end of the period, he was six sections away, and only the long, black tarps that cover the perennially vacant balcony seats kept him from doing laps upstairs that night.
He just didn’t abide incompetence. And it’s this kind of passion that has led him to sit in the big chair. In Calgary. As the new general manager of the NHL Flames.
