Why would that be an option? Both have had great success in pro hockey. Granlund didn't look out of place in the NHL before his injury. You'd have to be pretty pessimistic to think they don't have NHL futures. Granlund may have passed Baertschi as one of our top couple forward prospects. Reinhart looks like a lock to play some sort of role in the NHL with his versatility and skill.

Because both Burke and Treliving want the Flames to get bigger by surrounding the smaller skilled guys with beef.
I see Treliving trying to remake Calgary's bottom six into a big unit with guys like LA's Dwight King and Kyle Clifford, and neither Reinhart or Granlund really fit that mold. If they can't break into the top 6, there may not be a spot.
