I also remember Gulf stations (when they were still around) had a variety of things like this. One was geology set that had maybe 20 different kinds of Canadian rocks that went into a cardboard display. Another was a Prime Ministers of Canada gold medallion set. Gas stations should do more of this kind of things. Seems like a little piece of Canadiana has slipped away.
