The more I hear/read/learn the more I like this choice.
Something to consider, since 2007-08 (the oldest year in the capgeek archives) the Coyotes have 3 playoff appearances, two series wins, a playoff record of 12-15, a Conference Finals appearance, a Division Championship, and a combined record of 267-202-71. In that time the only player to have been paid more than 6 million was Ed Jovanovski from 2007-2009.
Over the same time period, the Flames have two playoff appearances, zero series wins, zero division titles, a playoff record of 5-8, and a combined record of 260-215-65, while having at least one, and usually two or three, six million dollar player(s) on the roster every single season. And that's not counting Kipper's 5.8 million.
The guys in Phoenix did better than we did, with substantially less to work with. I'm happy to have someone from that organization, who - as far as I know - is not obsessed with waffles.
