Beautiful!
Would that I had the eloquence of a Bingo, nevermind a Maher, and I could say this better.
That's the one thing that those of us who were around in the 80's.... Peter Maher was our major source of information - our actual lifeline to the Calgary Flames. And like Walter Cronkite and a few others, Peter Maher was a voice you could trust.

I think the differences in Flames/Oilers organizations were typified even by the difference in their broadcasters:
Rod Phillips is a legitimate hall-of-famer, and the biggest homer I may have ever heard. I remember one game where Buchberger was in a fight, and the way Rod described it he layed the pounding of his life on the other guy.... which was unusual because to my knowledge Bucky had never won a fight. Sure enough, on watching the highlights Bucky took his usual beating, without landing a punch.
Peter Maher was not that way. You knew if he said, it happened just that way. Hell, you could see it happen that way.

Thank you Peter - and thanks Bingo for perfectly summing it up for those of us who probably have spent more time listening to Peter Maher than almost any other human being.

Cheers
