It’s no surprise the Flames’ top tandem of TJ Brodie and Mark Giordano were offered spots on Canada’s blueline for the upcoming world championship, but both will miss out due to injuries.
The 30-year-old Giordano is being bothered by a sore hand, while Brodie missed Sunday’s regular-season finale in Vancouver with an undisclosed issue.
“Our docs told me it’s better to rest,” Giordano said. “It’s always great when you get asked for national team stuff, but you have to make sure that you’re ready for September, as well.”
