Because trading two firsts (from an awful team) and a second for kessel is a lot more then paying one first (albeit in a good draft) for ekblad.
Do people around here seriously think we will be worse then the oilers, sabres, canes, panthers (especially sans ekblad)? I'm not saying it's a sure thing but our roster has a lot more to like then those teams. We have a coach that has the respect of his players. We have found a number one goalie.
Ekblad is a Shea webber type player!
It's risky I agree. But it's also risky to lose out on a player like ekblad if we have a good season next year.
That said Florida won't trade #1 for a future first, so we are all just blowing hot air.
