I agree with you but Burke said that before the Flames had their strong run to end the year. Personally I think the flames are poised for a step back if they don't make many changes this summer. I do wonder however if Burke is going to try and speed things up because the team is further ahead then when he initially made those comments.
He said at the deadline he wants to be a buyer next year and said he doesn't want to talk about a non playoff year again next year. I expect him to improve the talent on the team but do not think he uses the 1st as trade bait.
My personal opinion at this stage the Flames are still in the mix for a top 3 selection next year
