The one thing I would recommend is if you are going to give a child a western, or even a name of foreign origins, make sure you can pronounce it. My brother-in-law in China named their daughter "Amy" in anticipation of one day coming to North America. Unfortunately none of them can say it correctly and everyone pronounces it like "ah-me" rather than "ay-me". Similarly if you pick a Japanese name, make sure you/your spouse can pronounce it properly.
