If you're an all offense type player, you need to have a better all round player to cover your ass when you're trying to score. Think of Patrick Kane. He's the same "genre" of player that Ovy and Nash are. All offense all the time. If he was on another team where he didn't have Toews, I doubt he'd have seen the 3rd round let alone having 2 rings.

You need drivers like Sakic, Yzerman, Crosby, Kopitar, both Richards, and Toews to lead your team. Passengers like Ovy, Nash and even Iginla can't carry their teams all the way because that's just not the type of guys that they are. Look at how much success Iginla is having with the Bruins. I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if he won there. But he also has 2 better players (Bergeron/Krejic) that can carry the load enabling him to do his thing.

I disagree with Yzerman and Brad Richards. Having watched Detroit since before Yzerman ever showed up he was never the driver of that team. He was the Ovechkin of his early career, all offense and nothing else. When Scotty Bowman arrived he made him a defensive player as Detroit already had better options on offense. Brad Richards, maybe was the driver for Tampa but he is barely a third line player anymore.
