Oh, I think theres more to it than that. This guy is considered one of the best and a very influential player in the DEL. I think his team game and attitude have a lot to do with his contract with Calgary.
Hes not just another goon coming in to punch faces, but he can and will punch faces if he has to. Its a very big part of the Flames' identity under Burke, being able to play and punch faces.

What I am missing? Is it the bad luck that stops him from being up their with league leaders Adam Courchaine, Steve Reinprecht and Kevin Clark? You're right, 40 points in the DEL is pathetic. How many games do they play again? 82? No, thats right, they only play 52.
His point totals couldnt have anything to do with the style his team plays or the quality of his linemates and even if it didnt, you're right, there is absolutely zero possibility that the guy can grow, learn or improve in any manner whatsoever. He simply is what he is and you take him at that.
A complete waste of assets to acquire him. Good thing the Flames didnt spend any.
