a classic case of 'one-upmanship' ...is that a word???
my old next-door neighbour was soooooo like this - i found it quite humorous. one time i decided to 'set him up' just to see what he would do....
another neighbour from around the corner and across the street was chatting with me one evening and i saw my next-door neighbour outside, so i mentioned to my 'around the corner' neighbour, 'make sure to get the conversation onto past jobs.' so we head over to chat. the 3 of us are chatting and my one neighbour brings up past jobs. i talk about stuff i did before starting my own biz and of course my next-door one-ups me (which i totally expected) and then he says to my other neighbour, 'how about you... what other jobs did you do?' she responded with (and this actually was her last job before moving to kelowna), ' i was one of the personal nurses for King Fahd and the royal family of saudi arabia!' ...well, that pretty much put an end to that conversation - he couldn't one-up that... it was awesome!!!
