Why sign a coach for one or two years when he is the guy you chose? A coach can't coach and develop players with a year or two so if he's your guy 4 years is not so bad and it doesn't count against the cap if you want to fire them.

That all sounds fine in theory, but the fact of the matter is that, as soon as things aren't going well, the vultures will circle. The length of the contract will offer no defense whatsoever.
