If Poirier was 20 years old it wouldn't be a problem, that's the cut off for guys being allowed to play in the AHL when they're drafted from the CHL.

Poirier will be 19 next season (doesn't turn 20 until December), someone like Freeway can shed some light on this but apparently he is allowed to play in the AHL next year. I believe (could be wrong) Emile is allowed to play in the AHL at 19 because he turns 20 before December 31st.

I have no doubt I've just made things murkier and less clear. You're welcome.
