A trade isn't better because the scouts do a good job picking.
If I trade Crosby for a 7th the deal isn't good because that 7th breaks all of Gretzky's record.
Stop using Poirier as a reason the Blues trade might work out.

You have said some colossally stupid things in your time, but this one might take the cake. Yes, the trade was for the 23rd pick. The entire question of whether we did well in the trade will be determined by what that pick turns into. So you are completely wrong. By making a trade for a draft pick, you are putting your success or failure into the hands of the scouts. So yes, the trade is better if the scouts hit a home run. Porier is the key from our perspective, and his success or failure most certainly is the reason why the trade may or may not work out for us.
Your Crosby comparison is a rather pathetic example of
reductio ad absurdum given we did not trade Crosby, nor did we trade for a 7th rounder.
The question of whether another offer we supposedly had would have been better is a fair one, but it is unrelated to the question of whether we will ultimately come out okay in terms of the deal we did make.
