Personally, I doubt it was a bad drug trip, unless the drugs in question were bath salts or something like that.

Drugs may have been a contributing factor to the rage or whatever (likely alcohol, cocaine or crack in that case), but how often does it actually happen where someone murders someone because of a bad trip (assuming that" bad trip" means that they lost their sense of reality)? It seems like the fear of that type of thing isn't actually justified by the number of occurrences.
