I see Monohan, as he develops, having his goal and assist totals even out. He looks to me to be a 30/30 player with the odd year jumping up higher. Does he have the potential to score 40 in a year? Sure. But players aren't getting that high anymore regularly unless they are the #1 focal point of their team's offence, and the hope with the developing flames team is that there will be depth in scoring, with a couple of top guys who can step up when needed. I would much prefer a steady, 60-70 point centre who plays in all situations and a team built like Boston or Chicago, or even Colorado, who have a lot of contributors. Look at Bergeron (30/32 in 80 games), Toews (28/40 in 76 games) and O'Reilly (28/36 in 80 games). Guys who score approx 30 goals and 60-70 points, play in all situations, but have guys around them who also chip in.
If Monohan ends up in that range, 25-35 goals, 60-70 points, then he will be a very valuable piece of this team
