It wasn't a vicious hit, moderately dirty, but nothing that people would be concerned about if it wasn't for the result. I don't think that Sedin turned into Byron or did anything to intentionally draw a penalty, but he did do a poor job of protecting himself. The hit itself wasn't worth a 5 minute penalty, but as part of game management and ensuring that the game didn't away from the refs with players looking for vengeance, it was something that needed to be done.
