A full season of Tavares and Okposo, goaltending that isn't horrfic, Hamonic/De Haan/Hickey a year older plus moves made knowing you have no first should and other teams actively trying for the first should easily keep them out of McDavid ranking.
The chances of them getting McDavid next year if they keep the pick are so slim that it isn't worth giving up Dal Colle/Draisatl then getting the 16th pick next year.
The Isles pick will not be the McDavid pick unless they by some insane fluke win the draft lottery.

Fair enough, but it looks a much better draft next year.
You have more faith in them than their track record suggests.
Buffalo with three firsts overall next year(including their own) is pretty scary
