Imagine a season where the "Pacific division" playoffs had the following teams make it:
(P) Vancouver - 110
(P) Edmonton - 100
(P) Calgary - 90
Wildcard - (C) Chicago- 95
If Chicago beats Vancouver and Calgary beats Edmonton I believe Calgary, despite having less points than Chicago, gets the home ice advantage in the next round because they finished "higher" in the standings.

Actually no Yeah, they would be treated the same as a 3rd seed team that finished with less points than a 4th or a 5th seed team it has to face in the 2nd round( in the previous CBA). The 3rd place team would still keep the home ice advantage. Essentially points only played a role in the stanley cup final once the seeding was set. Now the same way within the divisional playoffs only seeding decides who gets the home advantage. The conference finals, and stanley cup home advantage will be decided by points though.
