In all pro sports with testing there has always been the rumors of these guys knowing in advance about the testing coming, giving enough time to clean up their act. The guy has been playing for years, and assuming again he used before, and wasn't caught, it's indicative of the league's policy that he wasn't caught. While it may not be a "performance enhancer", it's still banned, and by virtue of him being caught with it on him, and the NHL not catching it in his blood through "random" testing, it's a black mark on the NHL.

Does the NHL drug test program even look for recreational drugs or just performance enhancers?
