I don't think it would be a bad idea to reunite the line and start them together in the AHL (unless Gaudreau forces his way onto the Flames roster). Obviously, if Hayes was never drafted and had simply emerged after being carried with Gaudreau then it would be more foolish to take a long look at him, but he is a legitimate prospect on his own who has established chemistry with two guys in the system.
If the line doesn't work in the pros, then that is too bad, but each guy has a shot to be a player as an individual so why not give it a chance?
