Jordan Staal is a 2/3 centre signed to a #1 centre deal. He's not good value at his current contract and he's always going to be a disappointment offensively.

Might have worked if Oli had panned out, he was billed as a 1 C but he was a flop. I don't think building out from Iggy and Kipper was a bad idea. If you have a good piece/s you keep them. Same with Toronto.They aren't going to dump Kessel because " he shouldn't be the best on the team." You take what you have and add to it regardless if that piece is a 1 d man , goalie or winger. You have to pay to keep your stars. Not everyone can trade for an elite center or have one fall into their lap so they are forced to build from other positions of strength.
