If a puck is loose in the crease now, players are trying to put their stick on the puck. How many times do you see a player trying to kick the puck to his stick, then into the net, in the crease?
Yeah, it's a grey area but draw the line at a goal. If you allow it kicking a puck into the net players will stop focusing on getting their stick on it and start kicking their skates around.
I know I'm a broken record.. but that just isn't the game of hockey. I'm not even trying to be condescending saying "that's soccer". That's just, what it would be.
There aren't soccer forums filled with fans who type "Why isn't that allowed again?" if a player picks up the balls and throws it into the net, are there?
