Self-centered might be the wrong term. But he's a very funny comedian, who's very high energy and at his best when the focus is on him. Not sure if his style would translate to the talk show's biggest stage, interviewing the biggest guests in show business.
Of course it's hard to tell as his last ten years of work to look at is him playing a character and purposely being over the top and overbearing on the guests. So who knows, maybe he'd take the job and be amazing.

He did an hour long, out of character interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson and nailed it. I think he would make a great host but I sure would miss his work on The Colbert Report.
