I think it was mentioned before but not certain, I don't think he is eligible for that loophole because he went straight to college. If he would've went to the USHL first then he could become a free agent after his senior year.
Again, not quite sure, but I remember reading it somewhere after he got drafted and it came up because it was fresh off the heels of Shultz.
