I've had employees pass kidney stones in the bathroom and get back to work, cut off the tip of their finger and return to work an hour later, and myself working with one wrist broken and tendinitis in the other. No it's not some macho 'look how tough I am' thing. Unless you're in a hospital bed, I expect you at work and I won't tolerate complaining.
Tell her to gut it out and stfu. If it's really so hard for her to work, she should take vacation or sick time.
