Some seem to think this is the Hart trophy. The criteria are as follows and while points are a factor it is no surprise the other two were picked as well.
- Strength of character, on and off the ice
- Contribution to the integrity of the team and outstanding skills in all phases of the game
- Scholastic achievement and sportsmanship
- Compliance with all NCAA rules, including being a full-time student in an accredited college or university and completing 50 percent or more of the season

That list is obviously just there to NCAA it up. Right from their website: The most coveted award in collegiate hockey, the Hobey Baker Award is given to the top NCAA men’s ice hockey player in the nation
The rest of those qualities are just there so the NCAA can pretend they care about the other stuff. The Heisman trophy has the same stuff in its criteria and judging by who wins that it obviously doesn't matter.
