The Blackfoot and Glenmore construction zone really GMG. I slow down to 60 for it, as I've seen officers there nabbing speeders. Most folks there get a massive hit, since everyone seems to think that Glenmore's actual speed limit is 100, not 80. So you hit that zone, and you are doing 40 over. I wonder if folks actually realize what kind of fine they could be in for because they don't even try to slow down for the 30 seconds it takes to cross the zone. I was curious, so I looked it up.
Fail to obey traffic control device - $172.00 - 3 Demerits
40km/h over limit - $264.00 - 4 Demerits
Careless Driving - $402.00 - 6 Demerits
These are the 3 I can see applying. I think that only the 40km/h over one doubles, and that leaves you with a fine of $1102, and up to 13 possible demerits, almost all the way to a suspension. For the 30 seconds it would take to slow to 60 (regardless if you agree that it should be there or not, which I feel it sure shouldn't be).
Yeah, I'll go with "not speeding".
