The WJC has been pretty much held in Canada and in the US near Canada 7 out of the last 12 years. Think the IIHF recognizes the Canadians make the tournament really profitable.
The U18 is really a bad tournament for Canada. Every other country sends their best players to the tournament, while many of Canada's best are still playing in the CHL playoffs. One of the reasons USA dominates the U18 is their team has played together for 2 years.

Ok wheres the tradeoff? WJC does crappy in Europe except for games where the host nation is playing. If Europe gets the WC every year, NA should get the WJC every year because we support all the games, due largely to the ticket packages. Understand we aren't as competitive as other nations on U18 but we still give a damn and would pay to see the up and comers.
Just pisses me off that Europe dominates the IIHF and we're marginalized because we are in North America. Colonialism still lingers on...
