The media guy who tweeted "...the league is footing the bills now" later retracked his statement and re worded it . They are relying on money from the league (which is money all teams get from the league, not sure how it all works but though, merch sales , sponsorship etc... I presume.) to pay some bills. That is how it all came out. It was basically a local media guy looking for headlines and creating more drama.
The board of directors did confirm that the team had secured a line of credit for a 100,000 to finish out the season. Though that isn't a whole lot of money in the grand scheme of things, the reaction was certainly not positive. The outlook is not any better either as ticket sales tanked as bad as the team did and there has not been a lot of talk about renewals for seasn tickets. In fact they did not announce renewals untill the last week or two of the season which prompted even more speculation about relocation.
