There has been significant progression in almost every aspect of the Flames organization this year, but not the least of which has been goaltending.
I think it's fair to say that the overall view at the start of the year was: let's see what we've got, and in reality we are simply passing the time until Gillies gets here.
Now we've got Ramo giving us solid and consistent goaltending, and Ortio knocking on the door.
Suddenly, Gillies is 3rd in line. And that is a very good thing.
The organization still needs to acquire another tender in the off-season, but the status of the position has improved dramatically from the beginning of the season.
PLUS the two trades that brought back nice returns.
