I agree, if the Flames go out and sign, Cammaleri, Statsny, Quincey, and Iginla or Gaborik (which they do have the cap space for). All while managing to maintain the Culture they have developed this season. Than they should be expected to be one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the West next year, with lots of young depth to cover injuries.
If they bring in 3 or 4 more rookies and sign nobody, it would shock me if Backlund, Monahan, Colborne and Russel have a rough year. And the Flame are vary close to the bottom of the league.
My expectation is they will sign one or two notable FAs, and will be drafting in that 5-7 range again. I think with the hope that the next season is the year to make a splash. Once Backlund and Monahans lines have play a full 82 schedule with a high quality of competition.
But its a long summer, so we will see what happens.
